Old World, New Tricks - Painting Competition
We are back with another painting challenge, and this time it's all old world with some new tricks!
RULES
In your pack you will receive a random Old World miniature, 4 random paints, some basing materials, an exclusive badge and sweeties!
The competition will run until midnight on the 30th of April 2026. In order for your entry to be valid you must submit it into the google form accessed via the QR code, as well as posting your entry on social media using the hashtags #tmanpaintchallenge and #oldworldnewtricks - either on TikTok (@travellingmanminis) or Instagram (@travellingmanuk). At least one of your entry photos should include all the materials from the box to show what colours you had to work with.
We would love to see WIPS so please tag us in any! (No extra points sorry!)
Paint the miniature using only the 4 paints provided, with the addition of your own pure black and pure white paints if you wish. No other paints are allowed. Mixing the 4 colours and the black and white paints is allowed.
You may prime your mini with a black or white primer. Mediums are allowed as long as they add no additional colour to the paints.
The basing material must be used, however you may add other basing materials as you see fit. Kit bashing is also permitted, as is adding other minis, but the main focus of your entry must still be the original mini. Adding too much and distracting from your mini may lose you points.
The main criteria for the competition will be the use of the colours you receive to create the best looking miniature. There will be 1 overall winner, 1 special prize winner and 3 runners-up, as well as a wild card winner. The main winner will be the miniature the judges feel has best met the challenge of the limited colour pallet. Our special prize winner will be the mini that best executes the theme of this challenge; in this case it will be for the funniest mini - the jester of the old world! The first runner-up will be for the best technical painting, with the second runner-up being for the best base. The final runner-up will be for the best executed concept. There will be one wild card winner chosen by our guest judge.
Happy Painting!
